With the UFO—short for “Unidentified Floating Object”—Ulysse Nardin has created a modern table clock that defies convention. Its design pays tribute to historical marine chronometers, whose cardanic suspensions kept movements level even in rough seas.

About the UFO Collection

With the design of the UFO, Ulysse Nardin takes up this principle in a modern way: The case back is domed in a spherical shape and balanced so that it gently oscillates when touched—a mechanical reference to the movements on the high seas. Three dials are arranged evenly around the centre of the watch. This allows the time to be read simultaneously from different perspectives. The time is displayed with a central hour and minute hand. 

The UFO from Ulysse Nardin is powered by a mechanical automatic movement that is skilfully built up over the entire construction. The watch impresses with a power reserve of a whole year, and the individual dials offer the option of displaying three time zones in parallel. 

"We asked ourselves what a marine chronometer from the year 2196 would look like," Patrick Pruniaux, CEO of Ulysse Nardin, explains. 

Ulysse Nardin's UFO is not a classic timepiece, but a conceptual object: futuristic, playful and with exceptional craftsmanship. It is available exclusively from Bucherer in the strictly limited ice-blue color variants—each one a kinetic work of art in the spirit of haute horlogerie.
