In Japan, the title of Takumi craftsman denotes outstanding technical and artistic skill, paired with exceptional perfectionism and passion. In Japanese watchmaking, it embodies true dedication. A Takumi has deep experience and intuitive understanding of every detail. To earn the title requires years of expertise, mastery of traditional techniques, aesthetic sensitivity, and a true love for the craft. We are proud to count several Takumis among our watchmakers in Japan—a testament to their unmatched abilities. 

The pursuit of excellence led to the creation of Grand Seiko in 1960. Already a major Japanese manufacturer in the 1950s, Seiko introduced the Grand Seiko 3180, made by a specialized team in Nagano. A mechanical masterpiece, it laid the foundation for the brand’s ongoing pursuit of perfection and innovation. 

Designers and engineers have continued to raise this standard. Grand Seiko strives to build the ideal watch—redefining global standards for precision, durability, and beauty. In 2010, the brand became independent, expanding globally. Today, collectors around the world treasure its one-of-a-kind timepieces.
