Santos de Cartier
1904. Louis Cartier granted the wish of the famous Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont: to be able to tell the time while flying. The birth of one of the first ever wristwatches sealed the bonds of friendship between these two pioneers. The rounded angles of the dial, seamless curve of the horns, and the exposed screws made for an iconic watch that would inspire countless reinterpretations.
New strap system
The new Santos de Cartier watch features an innovative strap in keeping with the spirit of our time. The new strap caters to modern lifestyles and ease of movement, and can be tailored to suit any occasion according to the choice of materials and colours. Available in steel, gold, calfskin or alligator skin, all versions are interchangeable thanks to the Cartier QuickSwitch system (patent pending) hidden under the strap. This invisible mechanism blends into the structure of the case and, to activate the system, the wearer simply presses the mechanism.

Clé de Cartier
For the conception of Clé de Cartier, the challenge was clear: to create a new form based on a perfect circle. A task that may at first appear effortless, but what seems straightforward is often deceptively complex. The result is a feat of subtlety and restraint where shapes are pared down and reduced to their pure essence. Everything is a question of precision, balance and proportion.

Since 1904 Santos de Cartier has always reinvented itself - apart from all legends surrounding the work of Alberto Santos-Dumont - full of innovation and progress.
Cartier is the renowned French jeweller and watchmaker with a history of pioneering design and a drive for excellence. The first references to Cartier watches date back to 1888. Late in the 19th century it was pocket and chatelaine watches that were most popular, but Louis Cartier saw a future in timepieces that could be worn on the wrist.
The first Cartier watch became the stepping stone to a long love affair and the creation of many new models. Names like Tank, Baignoire, Ballon Bleu, Santos and Calibre all refer to a shape, a winding crown, a moment in history or the brands first in-house watch movement.
