BUCHERER FINE JEWELLERY
A Journey Through Our Heritage
Jewellery is where craftsmanship meets creativity — where personal expression and meaningful memories take on enduring, tangible form. Since its founding in 1888, the art of fine jewellery has been at the heart of Bucherer's identity. That same year, entrepreneur Carl Friedrich Bucherer and his wife Louise opened their first specialist watch and jewellery boutique in the scenic Swiss city of Lucerne. More than a century later, Lucerne remains home to the Maison's ateliers, where tradition and innovation continue to flourish alongside each other. From these origins, Bucherer Fine Jewellery grew into one of the most renowned jewellers in the world, defined by its rich heritage and innovative approach.Â

Foundations Built by Visionary Women
Bucherer Fine Jewellery was born from Louise Bucherer's deep affinity for precious gemstones. In the 1920s, she played a crucial role in expanding the jewellery business, driven by her forward-thinking perspective. She was joined by her daughter-in-law, Wilhelmina Bucherer, who carried the same passion into a new era. Both women ventured to remote corners of the world in search of exceptional gemstones — stones that would become the centrepieces of Bucherer’s most iconic creations. At a time when the jewellery industry and the field of gemmology were largely dominated by men, Louise and Wilhelmina stood out as trailblazers with their visionary, adventurous spirits. They possessed a refined eye for gemstones, not merely for their aesthetic qualities, but for their expressive power and potential to convey memory, meaning, and individuality.Â
A Maison Evolving with the Times
For over 135 years, Bucherer Fine Jewellery has balanced design innovation with an unwavering commitment to excellence and craftsmanship. Our heritage archives trace the artistic evolution through the decades, from the refined geometry of 1920s Art Deco, to the flowing, natural motifs of the 1950s, and the striking, sculptural silhouettes that defined the 1970s. In the 1980s, our creations earned global recognition when select pieces were presented in an international design competition, illustrating the Maison’s enduring commitment to craftsmanship shaped by both legacy and creative evolution.Â
Growth Shaped by Vision and Craftsmanship
The 1990s marked a new chapter for growth with boutiques opening across Europe. And in 2013, celebrating Bucherer's 125th anniversary, the Maison opened a flagship store in Paris and unveiled four unique jewellery sets, each representing one of the four seasons. These masterpieces took approximately 1000 hours to complete, with around 500 hours of goldsmith work and 500 hours of gemstone setting. Â
Guided by Creativity and Jewellery Expertise
The legacy of Louise and Wilhelmina Bucherer continues to live on in Bucherer Fine Jewellery's collections today. In our Lucerne ateliers, highly skilled artisans and gemstone specialists uphold time-honoured techniques passed down through generations. Our talented team of jewellery designers, gemologists, goldsmiths, gemsetters, and polishers continue to transform rare gemstones and lustrous pearls into timeless works of art. Each piece is expertly crafted to empower and inspire its wearer. In addition to our signature Fine Jewellery collections, the Maison is celebrated for its breathtaking High Jewellery pieces, including the colourful Peekaboo Collection and the elegant Toi & Moi rings. A Legacy that Resonates Globally
Beyond craftsmanship, Bucherer Fine Jewellery holds deep cultural resonance. In recent years, our pieces have adorned some of world’s most glamorous red carpets. Stars such as Eva Longoria have donned the striking Inner Fire Collection, while Reese Witherspoon has dazzled in vivid yellow diamonds, and Cynthia Erivo has stunned in classic diamonds.Â

Looking Ahead
The story of Bucherer Fine Jewellery is one of bold beginnings, artistic vision, and enduring legacy. What began with a pioneering couple in Lucerne has evolved into a global Maison, driven by the same passion for beauty and mastery of craft.
As we continue to shape the future of fine jewellery, we remain grounded in the values that have defined us since 1888: creativity, a dedication to craft, and a belief in jewellery's power to express the extraordinary.
