The History of Vacheron Constantin

Founded in Geneva in 1755 by young master watchmaker Jean-Marc Vacheron, the Maison quickly gained renown for its refined pocket watches combining technical and aesthetic excellence. Early innovations included musical functions and quarter-repeaters. 

In 1819, the partnership between François Constantin and Jacques Barthélémi Vacheron gave birth to the Vacheron & Constantin name and international reach. The Maltese cross emblem—derived from a movement component ensuring consistent power—became a symbol of precision and heritage. 

For over 250 years, Vacheron Constantin has been a benchmark of elegance, innovation, and artisanal excellence in the world of Haute Horlogerie.
