IWC Schaffhausen and Bucherer continue their close collaboration with a limited edition that brings together two of haute horlogerie’s most demanding complications in a single timepiece. The Bucherer Exclusive IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon combines technical depth with the clarity and balance that define the Portugieser collection.
Form & Finish
The 45mm case is crafted from 18-carat Armor Gold®, IWC’s proprietary alloy engineered for enhanced hardness and durability. The silver-plated dial remains unmistakably Portugieser, with a clear and composed layout that displays the day, date, month, year, perpetual moon phase, and power reserve across three subsidiary dials and an aperture.
At the centre lies a pair of rhodium-plated blue hands, while the flying minute tourbillon takes pride of place at 12 o’clock. The watch is paired with an alligator leather strap.
Technical Excellence
At the heart of the Bucherer Exclusive IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon is the IWC-manufactured Calibre 51950, a self-winding mechanical movement that combines complexity with long-term precision. Powered by IWC’s Pellaton automatic winding system, it delivers a seven-day power reserve via an 18-carat gold rotor, visible through the sapphire caseback.
The perpetual calendar automatically accounts for the varying lengths of months and leap years and will require no correction until 2100. The northern hemisphere moon phase display is calibrated for exceptional accuracy, deviating by just one day after 577.5 years. All indications are carefully coordinated and can be adjusted via the crown, reflecting IWC’s emphasis on functional clarity. A flying minute tourbillon at 12 o’clock, weighing just 0.635 grams and composed of 82 components, completes the watch, highlighting the technical sophistication of this limited edition.
