Roger Dubuis Excalibur 42 Skeleton Flying Tourbillon

Best known for its avant-garden approach to horology, Roger Dubuis creates complicated and powerful watches by utilising innovative materials with contemporary design. Fusing a flying tourbillon with a skeleton build the brand has created a timepiece that is technically outstanding and aesthetically magnificent.

A stoic and stealthy watch the Roger Dubuis Excalibur 42 Skeleton Flying Tourbillon has plates and bridges that are reduced to the absolute essentials and the calibre offers a light, spacious display of advanced mechanics in action.

The watch’s sapphire caseback allows a clear light to stream through the watch, giving the chance to admire the clever use of negative space. The skeleton frame highlights the movement which a Celtic cross-shaped flying tourbillon at the centrepiece. Each movement is meticulously crafted and takes around 700 hours to manufacture, around 220 of which are solely for fine tuning and embellishment to achieve the Poincon de Geneve certification. Of the total 20 million watches produced in Switzerland, only 24,000 are awarded this hallmark. The movement is hand-wound rather than automatic, which gives the wearer a bit more intimacy with the watch.
