The latest additions to the Bucherer Fine Jewellery Peekaboo Collection are pieces in white gold with cushion-cut coloured gemstones. The enlarged diamond pavé prongs, which give the Peekaboo design an unusual character of its own, run unmistakably through the new line and imbue the purist forms and shapes with a typically light-hearted note. The gemstones get their incomparable sparkle and delicate, powdery colour from careful selection and the cushion cut developed exclusively for this collection. The cut is well known for showing off a stone's brilliance and colour to their best advantage. Today, the cushion cut has an unmistakable aura of its own and can look back on a long history featuring some very famous stones, such as the legend-steeped Hope Diamond.
The latest unique piece in the Peekaboo Collection boasts a gleaming blue Paraiba tourmaline weighing over 20 carats from Mozambique. These precious stones can be found only in very few locations worldwide. The first of them were discovered in 1987 in the Brazilian state of Paraiba, whence the stone takes its name. «Paraiba»: the word holds a particular fascination for gemstone connoisseurs. «We consider ourselves extremely lucky that we were able to procure such a magnificent example of a Paraiba tourmaline and set it in such an unusual piece of jewellery», says Matthias Heimberg, Director of Bucherer Fine Jewellery. The Peekaboo Collection, created by New York jewellery designer Yunjo Lee, elegantly places the gemstone a modern, uncomplicated setting.
