Quartz is a watch movement that uses a battery for power and a circuit board, microchip and a quartz crystal to regulate the timekeeping. Quartz is a material that exhibits an unusual effect when an electric current is past through it, it will give out a pulse at a very precise rate of 32768hz or cycles per second. The microchip takes this frequency and divided by two and again and again until it;s controlled into a single pulse per second; this is the reason Quartz watches tick at once per second. This pulse is fed to a tiny electric motor which in turn powers the cogs to drive the hours minutes and seconds hands. Shop Quartz watches here at Bucherer.
